In a thriller the Philadelphia Phillies staged a dramatic comeback then held
on to win over the Washington Nationals by a score of 2 to 1 at Nationals
Park.

Philadelphia won the game with a rally in the 9th inning with 2 runs utilizing
2 base hits. John Mayberry Jr led off and got things going when he doubled.
After an out was recorded, Erik Kratz came up and he clubbed a two-run home
run. After another out, Juan Pierre got his turn next, but he was a
strikeout victim. Both teams totaled 6 hits on the afternoon.

Michael Schwimer(1-0) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory.
Jonathan Papelbon was credited with his 12th save. Tyler Clippard(1-2) was
the losing pitcher in relief. He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings giving up 2 hits
and no walks.

'The only way this one could have been better', said Schwimer, 'was if we had
played it at home.'
