WEB GEMS- Top 4th: Justin Ruggiano robbed Ian Desmond of an extra base hit.

Shortstop Ian Desmond connected with a 'big fly' and had 4 RBI and Stephen
Strasburg racked up an impressive total of 14 strikeouts at Marlins Park as
the Washington Nationals belted the Miami Marlins by the count of 15 to
0.

Desmond led the offense for Washington. He slapped a base-hit in the 2nd
inning, doubled scoring two baserunners in the 6th inning and lifted one out
of the park for a two run home run in the 9th inning. Washington lit up the
scoreboard in the 6th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 4 hits and the
9th inning which saw them score 5 runs on 4 hits. Washington finished with
14 hits in the victory.

Strasburg(3-1) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. Carlos
Zambrano(2-3) suffered the loss. His ERA ballooned from 2.23 to 3.08 as he
allowed 7 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings.

'He was really impressive today,' Zambrano said of his counterpart. 'Our guys
were just swinging at air.'
