WEB GEMS- Top 5th: Russell Martin blocked the plate, saving a run!

The Pittsburgh Pirates bested the Milwaukee Brewers by a 6 to 2 score at PNC
Park.

Pittsburgh had 3 runs cross the plate in the 2nd inning with the help of 3
hits. Pedro Alvarez opened up the inning nicely when he stroked a one-base
hit. Justin Morneau came next and he doubled. Marlon Byrd was next to bat,
but he was a strikeout victim. Russell Martin was up next and he smacked a
three-run homer. That was all the runs Charlie Morton(3-1) needed.
Pittsburgh managed 10 hits in their victory.

Kyle Lohse(1-2) suffered the loss. He gave up 5 hits and 1 walk in 5 innings.
