Ryan Dempster carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning at Chase Field where the
Chicago (NL) Cubs beat the Arizona club 1 to 0.

Dempster(4-2) simply dominated Arizona. He didn't give up much, just 2 hits
and 2 walks in 9 innings. Dempster chalked up 13 strikeouts seeing his ERA
drop from 3.16 to 2.54. The right-handed Dempster lost a no-hitter when
Chris Young singled with two outs in the 6th inning. Arizona tried
unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.

Dan Haren(4-1) was the loser. He gave up just 1 run and 7 hits in 9 innings.
'He was really impressive today,' Haren said of his counterpart. 'Our guys
were just swinging at air.'
