30,462 fans were treated to a fine game at Minute Maid Park as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Houston Astros won by the
slimmest of margins, 6 to 5.

Brandon Backe(1-1) contributed a pedestrian performance to earn the win. He
went 7 innings allowing 8 hits and 3 walks and allowed 2 gopher balls. Jose
Valverde was perfect in the ninth giving him his 2nd save on the season.

The losing pitcher was Brian Stokes(0-1) in relief. 'I didn't have my best
stuff but sometimes you just get lucky,' Backe said, 'this was one of those
times.'
