The Chicago (AL) Whitesox defeated the New York (AL) Yankees by a score of 5
to 2 at Yankee Stadium.

Chicago (AL) scored 3 runs in the top of the 3rd inning when they had 5 base
hits. Paul Konerko got things going when he lashed a single. Nick Swisher
stepped up to the plate and he grounded into a double play. Alexei Ramirez
then slapped a one-base hit. Orlando Cabrera followed and he stroked a
base-hit. Carlos Quentin stepped into the box and belted a three-run homer
(his 1st of the season). Jermaine Dye kept the rally going and doubled. Jim
Thome stepped into the batter's box and he drew a walk. That was all Javier
Vazquez(1-0) needed. Vazquez got help from Matt Thornton who pitched a
perfect ninth and was credited with his 1st save.

Mike Mussina(0-1) took the loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 9 innings of work.
