Jim Thome cracked 3 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Chicago (AL) Whitesox
ballclub embarrassed the Kansas City Royals by the count of 15 to 3.

Thome was unconscious out there. While Kansas City pitching was serving
softballs up there for him to hit, the Kansas City fans were serving up some
hardball barbs when he entered the batter's box. But he just used it as fuel
for the fire. He lined a base-hit in the 5th inning, cracked a solo homerun
in the 7th inning, hit a bases-empty home run in the 8th inning and smacked a
three-run homer (his 8th of the season) in the 8th inning. Chicago (AL) bats
were hot in the 7th inning which saw them plate 5 runs on 5 hits and the 8th
inning which saw them plate 9 runs on 5 hits. For the game Chicago (AL)
out-hit Kansas City 16 to 11.

Javier Vazquez(2-1) went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory.
Brian Bannister(1-2) suffered the loss. He gave up 3 runs and 8 hits in 6
and 1/3 innings.

'Actually, I didn't feel that comfortable at the plate today' Thome said after
the game. 'Despite that, I'm happy with the results!
