John Lackey whiffed 12 batters at Angels Stadium as the Los Angeles(AL) Angels
beat the Chicago (AL) Whitesox by the count of 3 to 2.
Lackey(2-0) pitched a solid game. He surrendered 10 hits and no walks in 7
and 1/3 innings and surrendered 2 'round-trippers' lowering his ERA from 4.20
to 3.63. The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.
Francisco Rodriguez was credited with his 7th save. The losing pitcher was
Javier Vazquez(2-2). Craig Lombardi was upset after the game. 'I don't like
to complain but did you see that umpires strike zone?', he said. 'Maybe they
ought to start calling the strike zone the way it's printed in the rule
book.'
