Catcher Jorge Posada homered at SAFECO Field as the New York (AL) Yankees beat
the Seattle Mariners by the count of 3 to 0.

In the top of the 3rd inning New York (AL) went on top for good scoring a
single run. That scoring would be all that was needed. New York (AL) and
Seattle each finished the night with 6 hits.

Randy Johnson(6-2) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 7 innings.
Johnson got relief help from Mariano Rivera who gained credit for his 6th
save. Felix Hernandez(2-1) was the losing pitcher.
