In a game for the baseball purist, Shawn Chacon(2-1) and Jeff Harris(0-4)
squared off in a tense pitching duel, New York (AL) Yankees finally emerged
victorious over Seattle Mariners, 3 to 0.

Seattle fell behind quickly as the New York (AL) offense came through in the
first inning when they scored 2 runs on 1 hit. That early run support was
enough for Chacon and New York (AL). Although they lost, Seattle did out-hit
New York (AL) 7 to 4.

Chacon got help from Tom Gordon who earned his 3rd save. With this win, New
York (AL) has a 16-10 record. They have been 6-4 lately. Seattle continued
their losing ways and their record is now 11-23, worst in the division. They
are 2-8 in their last ten games.
