C.C. Sabathia whiffed 10 batters and Johnny Damon left the yard at Tropicana
Field as the New York (AL) Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays by the count of 3
to 0.

Sabathia(5-1) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
Tampa Bay batters. He didn't give up much, just 4 hits and 1 walk in 9
innings dropping his ERA from 2.03 to 1.77. New York (AL) finished with 9
hits in the victory.

James Shields(3-4) absorbed the loss. 'When Sabathia is on like that it is a
tough game to play, no doubt about it,' John Thomas said. 'He always pitches
well against us.'
