Trevor Cahill delivered 9 solid innings and shortstop Cliff Pennington had 2
base hits and 2 RBI at McAfee Coliseum as the Oakland A's beat the Chicago
(AL) Whitesox 4 to 1.

Chicago (AL) lost it in the 4th inning when Oakland did all their damage
scoring 4 runners on 5 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by
Pennington who made the home-town crowd a happy bunch when he laced a
base-knock scoring two baserunners. Oakland banged out 14 hits on the
afternoon.

The winning pitcher was Cahill(1-0) who allowed 1 run for the game. Mark
Buehrle(2-1) was the loser. He got hammered, allowing 11 hits and 2 walks in
5 innings.
