WEB GEMS- Top 5th: Vernon Wells robbed Shin-Soo Choo of a Homerun!

Matt Laporta homered and had 2 RBI as the Cleveland Indians rallied
impressively to win in dramatic style over Toronto Bluejays, 6 to
5.

Cleveland came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning with 3
runs on 4 base hits. Mark Grudzielanek led off and started the rally when he
doubled. Carlos Santana followed and he laced a base-hit. Shin-Soo Choo
then doubled. David Purcey then was wild with a pitch. Andy Marte stepped
into the box and laced a single. Shelley Duncan struck out, unable to help
the rally. This was a game of many highs and lows for the home town fans, as
the lead kept changing - 5 times in all.

Justin Germano(1-1) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Joe
Smith was credited with his 1st save. Kevin Gregg(0-2) was the loser in
relief.

John DePanicis was understandably not very talkative after his team's tough
loss. He quickly showered and changed and when asked about the game had a
terse, yet polite response, 'Hey fellows, that game was a heart-breaker to
lose. Our guys gave it their all and played well - fate just wasn't smilin'
on us this afternoon'
