In an entertaining game at Wrigley Field the final score was the Cincinnati
Reds 4, the Chicago (NL) Cubs 1.

Cincinnati had the winning rally in the top of the 8th inning plating 3 runs
on 2 hits. Scott Rolen got things going when he lined a base-hit. After
another out, Mike Leake got his chance to keep things going, but he went down
on strikes. Stubbs stole second with some aggressive base running. Xavier
Paul followed and he drew a walk. Devin Mesoraco stepped into the box and
drew a walk to load the bases. Joey Votto joined his teammates in the
uprising and drew a walk. Brandon Phillips was next and he stroked a
one-base hit. Phillips took second on the throw. Jay Bruce followed, but he
was set down on strikes. Chicago (NL) had 9 hits in the game while
Cincinnati had 5, but Cincinnati had the more timely hits.

Leake(2-0) got the win allowing 1 run in 7 and 1/3 innings. Leake got relief
help from Alfredo Simon who gained credit for his 2nd save. The loss was
charged to Michael Bowden(0-1) in relief.
