Detroit came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 8th inning with 3 runs using 2 hits. Andy Dirks got things going when he delivered a base-hit. Ramon Santiago came to the plate and laid down a sacrifice bunt. One out later, Omar Infante then drew a walk. Miguel Cabrera was up next and he drew a walk to load the bases. Prince Fielder came up to bat and was hit by a pitch resulting in a run. Victor Martinez kept the rally going and ripped a one-base hit as another two runners scored. Detroit had only 5 hits for the afternoon. Justin Verlander(3-2) allowed 2 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Phil Coke got the save, his 2nd. Justin Masterson(3-1) absorbed the loss. Wth the win Detroit now has a record of 6-11. Cleveland has a record of 14-7 after the loss.
