In an entertaining game at Progressive Field the final score was the Detroit
Tigers 5, the Cleveland Indians 2.
 
Detroit came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 8th inning with 3
runs using 2 hits.  Andy Dirks got things going when he delivered a base-hit.
Ramon Santiago came to the plate and laid down a sacrifice bunt.  One out
later, Omar Infante then drew a walk.  Miguel Cabrera was up next and he drew
a walk to load the bases.  Prince Fielder came up to bat and was hit by a
pitch resulting in a run.  Victor Martinez kept the rally going and ripped a
one-base hit as another two runners scored.  Detroit had only 5 hits for the
afternoon.  
 
Justin Verlander(3-2) allowed 2 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory.
Phil Coke got the save, his 2nd.  Justin Masterson(3-1) absorbed the loss.
 
Wth the win Detroit now has a record of 6-11.  Cleveland has a record of 14-7
after the loss.
