Boston came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning with 2 runs on 3 hits. Daniel Nava got things rolling when he cracked a solo homerun. Stephen Drew followed next and he ripped a base-hit. Mike Carp then reached on an error. Jacoby Ellsbury was up next and he grounded into a double play. Dustin Pedroia came to the plate and smacked a single giving Boston the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. For the game Boston out-hit Toronto 10 to 5. The win was credited to Andrew Miller(1-0) who went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs. The losing pitcher was Casey Janssen(0-2) in relief. He gave up 2 runs without retiring a batter and saw his ERA jump from 2.38 to 3.18.
