Right fielder Torii Hunter had 3 base hits and 2 RBI as the Detroit Tigers
topped the Chicago (AL) Whitesox in 12 innings by a score of 5 to 4 at US
Cellular Field.
 
The score was tied at 4 after nine.  Detroit won the hard fought contest in
the 12th inning.  Prince Fielder hit a bases-empty home run.  For the game
Detroit out-hit Chicago (AL) 11 to 8.  
 
The winning pitcher was Darin Downs(1-1) who allowed 1 run in 4 innings. Phil
Coke was credited with his 3rd save.  Matt Thornton(0-2) took the loss in
relief.  
 
Wth the win Detroit now has a record of 10-15.  With the loss, the Chicago
(AL) ballclub's record is 8-11.
