Chris Sale reeled off a total of 11 strikeouts at US Cellular Field where the
Chicago (AL) Whitesox beat the Houston Astros 6 to 3.

Sale(2-3) was solid in the win. He surrendered only 9 hits and 1 walk in 8
innings dropping his ERA from 3.09 to 2.51. Houston had a chance in the 9th
but they came up short.

Jordan Lyles(0-1) suffered the loss. Despite taking the loss, he whiffed 9
batters in 6 and 1/3 innings. The Chicago (AL) fans were thrilled by the
performance put forth by Sale, but it was clearly his strikeouts that they
enjoyed most. 'When he reached 10 strikeouts the fans showed him their
appreciation with a loud cheer.' Craig Lombardi said following the game.
