by the count of 8 to 7.

Chicago (AL) erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th

singled. A.J. Pierzynski next to the plate and he laced a base-hit.
Jermaine Dye followed, but he was set down on strikes. Brian Anderson
followed next and he doubled. Gordon Beckham was the next batter, but he
struck out. Scott Podsednik continued the rally and slapped a single. For
the game Chicago (AL) out-hit Kansas City 12 to 9.

The win was credited to Clayton Richard(2-0) who went 1 inning allowing no
runs. The loss was charged to Joakim Soria(0-1) in relief. He surrendered 2
runs and 3 hits in 2/3 of an inning.

Craig Lombardi was ebullient after the game, 'It's great to win a hard fought

the fans - they were going wild! Yes sir, a very enjoyable win this
afternoon!'
