one-run game at Kauffman Stadium. The final score was the Kansas City Royals
2, the New York (AL) Yankees 1.

Kansas City won the game with a run in the bottom of the 8th inning. After
two outs Coco Crisp tripled. Mitch Maier stepped into the batter's box and
he doubled. Kansas City had only 5 hits for the game.

The victory went to Jamey Wright(1-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs.
Joakim Soria gained credit for his 4th save. The loss was charged to Sergio
Mitre(0-2) in relief.
