Right fielder Matt Joyce had 2 base hits as the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the
struggling Chicago (AL) Whitesox by a score of 5 to 1 at Tropicana
Field.
Jeff Niemann(2-1) gave a fine effort for Tampa Bay. He went 6 and 1/3 innings
allowing 6 hits and 2 walks lowering his ERA to 2.57. Overall Tampa Bay
out-hit Chicago (AL) 11 to 8.
Kyle Farnsworth earned the save, his 5th. Mark Buehrle(1-6) was hit with the
loss. He allowed 10 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings. It was another victory
for Tampa Bay at Tropicana Field. Now their winning streak stands at 6
games. Craig Lombardi was upset but philosophical about the loss. 'Sometimes
you run into a team that's on a roll. This was one of those times.'
