Brandon Gomes finished beautifully and right fielder Matt Joyce recorded 4 RBI
with one swing when he ripped a grand slam as the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the
Kansas City Royals by a score of 11 to 6 at Kauffman Stadium.
 
Joyce was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at
their team's expense.  He ripped a single in the 2nd inning, doubled in the
8th inning and emptied the bases with a Grand Slam homerun in the 9th inning.
Despite losing, Kansas City out-hit Tampa Bay 15 to 8.  
 
Cesar Ramos(1-0) got the win allowing 2 runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Gomes
recorded the save, his 2nd.  Tim Collins(0-2) was given the loss in relief.
