In a thriling finish the Cleveland Indians pulled off the win over the Kansas
City Royals by a score of 4 to 2 at Progressive Field.
Cleveland scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning plating 2 runs using 2
hits. After an out was recorded, Shin-Soo Choo began the rally when he
ripped a single. Jason Kipnis was next and he blasted a two-run home run
making Cleveland the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration.
Both teams totaled 9 hits on the afternoon.
Joe Smith(3-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. Blake
Wood(1-3) was the loser in relief. He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings and
surrendered 2 hits and 2 walks.
