Andy Dirks slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Detroit Tigers topped the
ice-cold Tampa Bay Rays by a score of 6 to 3 at Tropicana Field.
 
Detroit scored all of the necessary runs in the 6th inning when they tallied 6
runs on 6 hits.  The highlight belonged to Dirks who deflated the spirits of
the home town crowd when he belted a three-run homer.  The game was a
scoreless duel until the 6th inning.  
 
Doug Fister(1-4) got the win allowing no runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. Joaquin
Benoit recorded the save, his 3rd.  Chris Archer(1-4) was the losing pitcher.
He was not very effective, surrendering 6 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings.
