The Seattle Mariners nipped the Oakland A's 3 to 2 at SAFECO Field in a hard
fought contest.
 
Seattle jumped on top of Oakland in the 5th inning scoring a single run.
Oakland made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed
runs across.  
 
The victory was credited to Joe Saunders(2-1) who went 5 innings, allowing 2
runs. Tom Wilhelmsen preserved the game for Saunders, recording his his 2nd
save.  A.J. Griffin(1-4) was the losing pitcher.
