Jose Valverde was strong in relief for Detroit as the Detroit Tigers defeated
the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 9 to 6 at Camden Yards.
 
Detroit brought 5 runs across the plate in the 2nd inning when they came up
with 4 base hits.  The highlight belonged to Austin Jackson who deflated the
crowd as he lost the ball over the fence for three runs.  Baltimore had 13
hits in the game while Detroit had 9, but Detroit had the more timely hits.
 
The winning pitcher was Rick Porcello(1-1) who allowed 6 runs in 5 and 1/3
innings. Valverde recorded the save, his 2nd.  Jake Arrieta(0-1) was charged
with the loss.  He gave up 7 runs in 5 innings of work.
