Jon Lester took a no-hitter into the 7th inning at Fenway Park where the
Boston Redsox beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4 to 0.

Lester(1-2) escaped virtually unscathed against the Tampa Bay hitters. He
gave up just 2 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 2.55. The
left-handed Lester lost his no-hit bid when Carlos Pena singled with two outs
in the 7th inning. Boston had a total of 10 hits for the game.

Jeremy Hellickson(1-1) took the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 9 hits and
2 walks in 6 innings. Lester was obviously very pleased with his performance
in the aftermath of the game, 'It was just one of those games where
everything worked. My arm felt great, heck, I could have pitched another two
or three innings. I only hope that I can do it again next time out!'
