Curtis Granderson ripped 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Yankee Stadium as the New
York (AL) Yankees beat the Oakland A's by the count of 8 to 7.

Granderson provided much of the offense. He popped a two-run clout over the
fence in the 1st inning and smacked a three-run homer in the 7th inning.
Oakland tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.

The victory went to Boone Logan(1-0) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Logan was helped out by Rafael Soriano who recorded his 2nd save.
Bartolo Colon(1-1) suffered the loss.

'Anytime you lose it hurts,' said Lee Michaels 'but it's losing the close ones
that really hurt.'
