Carlos Ruiz cracked 2 homeruns and J.A. Happ allowed John Thomas to rest his
bullpen, tossing a complete game as the Philadelphia Phillies topped the St.
Louis Cardinals by a score of 6 to 1 at Busch Stadium.

Ruiz was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at
their team's expense. He lined a single in the 2nd inning, cracked a solo
homerun in the 4th inning and delivered a solo blast in the 9th inning.
Philadelphia managed 12 hits in their victory.

Happ(2-0) was the winner allowing 1 run for the game. The losing pitcher was
