Designated hitter Alex Gordon connected with a 'big fly' at Kauffman Stadium
as the Kansas City Royals beat the Houston Astros by the count of 7 to
6.

Kansas City won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 8th inning with 3
runs on 4 base hits. Yuniesky Betancourt led off and keyed the rally when he
doubled. After an out was recorded, Scott Podsednik stepped in and he laced
a one-base hit. Jason Kendall then banged out a single. David Dejesus was
up next and he singled. Billy Butler stepped into the box and drew a walk to
load the bases. Wilson Betemit kept the rally going and hit a deep fly.
Kansas City out-hit Houston for the game, 16 hits to 8.

Dusty Hughes(1-1) went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory.
Hughes got relief help from Joakim Soria who gained credit for his 3rd save.
Wesley Wright(0-1) took the loss in relief.

The Kansas City ballclub's record now stands at 5-9. Brad Mills was pretty
down after the loss. 'We've really been sputtering along lately, something
like 2-8 in the last week or two. That won't get it done.'
