At Yankee Stadium, the New York (AL) faithful were treated to an intriguing
pitcher's duel.  Ivan Nova(2-2) finally bested his Boston counterpart, Jon
Lester(3-1), by the score of 2 to 0.
 
In the 6th inning New York (AL) scored 2 runs.  Boston went down without a
fight in the 9th.  Mariano Rivera earned the save, his 8th.  Lester was the
loser.  While he was the losing pitcher, he still struck out 10 batters in 7
innings.  
 
'He gutted it out' Joe Girardi said of Nova.  'I was very impressed by his
tenacity.'
