Shortstop Brendan Ryan had 2 base hits as the Seattle Mariners won a dandy at
SAFECO Field over the Detroit Tigers, 2 to 1.
 
Seattle won the game with a run in the 9th inning.  Ryan doubled.  One out
later, Miguel Olivo stepped up to the plate and he hit a deep fly making
Seattle the victors to the delight of the home town faithful.  Detroit had 8
hits in the game while Seattle had 5, but Seattle had the more timely hits.
 
Josh Lueke(2-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1/3 of an inning and
allowing no runs. Justin Verlander(4-2) took the loss.  He surrendered only 2
runs and 5 hits in 8 and 2/3 innings.
