Johan Santana racked up an impressive total of 12 strikeouts and Joe Mauer
connected with a 'big fly' and had 3 RBI as the Minnesota Twins defeated the
Detroit Tigers in 12 innings 5 to 3 at Comerica Park.

The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings. Minnesota came out on
top in the 12th inning. Mauer led off and he drew a walk. Justin Morneau
dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. Torii Hunter then doubled.
Mike Cuddyer stepped in and he delivered a base-hit which scored a run.
Jacque Jones stepped into the box and laced a base-knock. Juan Castro joined
his teammates in the uprising and delivered a one-base hit scoring the final
run of the inning. Minnesota had 15 hits for the game and Detroit had 4.

Jesse Crain(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing
no runs. Craig Dingman(0-2) was charged with the loss in relief. He gave up
3 hits and 1 walk in 1 inning.
