Aaron Small tossed a complete game and left fielder Hideki Matsui hit a
homerun as the New York (AL) Yankees topped the Tampa Bay ballclub by a score
of 8 to 1 at Yankee Stadium.

New York (AL) promptly took the lead in their half of the first scoring 3 runs
utilizing 3 base hits. After two outs Alex Rodriguez opened up the rally as
he doubled. Mark Hendrickson then let loose a wild pitch. Gary Sheffield
then bombed a two-run dinger (his 7th of the season). Jason Giambi was up
next and he delivered a solo blast (his 3rd of the season). That early
scoring was all that Small(2-0) needed. New York (AL) totaled 9 hits on the
afternoon.

Hendrickson(0-3) ended up with the loss. He was touched for 3 homeruns in his
3 and 1/3 innings of work.
