The Seattle Mariners came roaring back in the top of the ninth to spoil the
anticipated celebration of the hometown fans. The final score,, was 7 to
5.

Seattle erupted with the game winning runs in the top of the 9th inning when
they scored 5 runs on 6 hits. The big moment was provided by Jeremy Reed who
deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he belted a three-run homer (his
2nd of the season). The Texas bats were silent in the bottom of the 9th.

J.J. Putz(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 1/3 of an inning. Putz was
helped out by Ryan Franklin who recorded his 1st save. John Wasdin(0-2)
ended up with the loss in relief.

Wasdin was feeling apologetic in the locker room, 'I sure let that one get
away. What a miserable feeling to let the guys down; and our fans. One
minute things are looking great, then. BOOM, it's over with! I just hope I
get a chance to redeem myself real soon!'
