Rick Porcello pitched 8 and two third strong innings at Comerica Park as the
Detroit Tigers beat the Tampa Bay Rays by the count of 2 to 0.

Detroit had 2 runs cross the plate in the 3rd inning. After an out was
recorded, Austin Jackson started the rally when he singled. Johnny Damon
followed and he lifted one out of the park for a two run home run. Miguel
Cabrera dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. That early run
support was enough for Porcello(1-1) and Detroit. Neither team managed to
score after the 3rd inning.

Porcello got relief help from Phil Coke who gained credit for his 1st save.
James Shields(1-3) was the loser. Wth the win Detroit now has a record of
12-12. Tampa Bay has a record of 14-12 after the loss.
