At Yankee Stadium, the New York (AL) fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel.
Carl Pavano(2-1) finally bested his New York (AL) opposite, Freddy
Garcia(0-2), by the score of 3 to 1.

Pavano gave a fine effort for Minnesota. He allowed 6 hits and 3 walks in 6
innings. Pavano was helped out by Joe Nathan who pitched a perfect ninth and
recorded his 1st save.

Garcia was charged with the loss. 'I was a little good, a little bad and a
little ugly.' said Pavano, 'I was just giving us a chance to win.'
