Right fielder Matt Downs went deep and had 4 RBI as the Houston Astros
defeated the Los Angeles(AL) Angels by a score of 9 to 6 at Minute Maid
Park.
 
Downs had a good day at the plate.  He bombed a two-run dinger in the 6th
inning and doubled plating two runs in the 7th inning.  Houston had 16 hits
overall, while Los Angeles(AL) had 9.  
 
David Carpenter(2-1) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 1 run for the victory.
Mark Melancon preserved the game for Carpenter, recording his his 5th save.
Jered Weaver(1-1) suffered the loss.  
 
Houston now has a record of 7-7. With this loss, Los Angeles(AL) has a 5-4
record of late, 5-4 overall.
