41,822 fans were treated to a fine game at Angels Stadium as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Seattle Mariners won by the
slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.
 
The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings.  Seattle came out the
victor in the 16th inning.  Jack Wilson led off and he lined a single
bringing in a run.  Josh Bard came to the plate and cleared the fences for a
two-run home run.  Los Angeles(AL) had 13 hits in the game while Seattle had
8, but Seattle had the more timely hits.  
 
The victory was credited to Josh Lueke(1-0) who went 1 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 1 run. Jamey Wright recorded his 1st save.  Bobby Cassevah(0-1) took
the loss in relief.  He surrendered 2 runs and 2 hits in 1 inning.
