At Tropicana Field, the Tampa Bay faithful were treated to an intriguing
pitcher's duel.  Daisuke Matsuzaka(1-0) finally bested his Tampa Bay
counterpart, Wade Davis(0-1), by the score of 1 to 0.
 
The game's lone run was scored in the 3rd inning.  Carl Crawford blasted a
solo shot.  One out later, Jarrod Saltalamacchia was a strikeout victim,
unable to help out.  That early run support was enough for Matsuzaka and
Boston.  Tampa Bay threatened in the 9th but Boston was able to put down the
rally.  
 
Matsuzaka got relief help from Jonathan Papelbon who gained credit for his 3rd
save.  The loss was charged to Davis.  He pitched 9 innings allowing only 5
hits and 1 walk.
